Spokane Velocity FC vs. Union Omaha
The Velocity's road to the championship was not an easy one. The team entered the USL League One Playoffs with a seven-match winless streak.
Despite the run of results leading up to the playoffs, the Spokane Velocity won when it mattered most, pulling off an impressive 3-0 upset against No. 2 seed Northern Colorado Hailstorm. That win made the Velocity the lowest seed to ever win a USL League One playoff match.
In their next match, it took over 120 minutes for the Velocity to score, holding No. 3 Madison FC scoreless through regulation and overtime before coming away with a 5-4 penalty shootout victory to advance to the final.
Top-seeded Union Omaha will be Spokane Velocity's toughest challenge yet, especially with a USL championship on the line. Union Omaha is looking to become the first team in league history to win the USL League One final twice after beating the No. 8 seed Richmond Kickers and No. 4 seed Greenville Triumph.
Spokane Velocity, who came into the playoffs as a No. 7 seed, played Union Omaha four times this season, with each team winning twice.
