MADISON, Wis. — After over 120 minutes of goalless soccer in Madison, Wisconsin tonight, the Spokane Velocity defeated Forward Madison 5-4 in a penalty kick shootout to advance to the USL League One championship game.
Brooks Thompson was equal to Cherif Diaye's penalty shot, marking the only save made in the shootout.
Josh Dolling, Anuar Peláez, Azriel González, Andre Lewis and Collin Fernandez all slotted their penalty shots home to lift the Velocity to the 5-4 shootout win.
Spokane moves on to face Union Omaha for the USL League One Championship next week.
The Velocity beat Union Omaha twice during the regular season.
