Sandpoint police searching for arson suspect in connection to Army Surplus store fire

Sandpoint Police and the fire marshal's office are offering a $5,000 reward for information.

SANDPOINT, Idaho — The Sandpoint Police Department is asking for your help identifying an arson suspect related to a fire that broke out at the Army Surplus store on the 4th of July.

According to the City of Sandpoint, surveillance video showed someone the night of the 4th of July approaching the south wall of the Army Surplus store.

Moments later, flames can be seen as the suspect walks away from the scene.

The owner of the Army Surplus store said the building is a complete loss.

Sandpoint Police are asking anyone who may have surveillance footage that would help them identify the suspect to contact them at 208-265-1482.

The Idaho State Fire Marshal's office has identified the fire as arson, and they are offering a $5,000 reward for information. 

The Sandpoint Police Department says if you do have information and want to remain anonymous, you can call the tip line at 1-877-75- ARSON.
