SPOKANE, Wash. — What:  The KREM Cares ‘Tools 2 Schools’ campaign is a partnership with Couer d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel, Communities in Schools Spokane and Office Depot to get kids ready for the school year by providing the necessities.  Each year, we strive to provide at least 2,000 students with backpacks and school supplies.  Financial struggles for local families have prompted us to add non-traditional school supplies:  snacks, socks, and hygiene products to help kids succeed.  Our goal with the Tools 2 Schools campaign is to make sure our kids have the best school year possible.

Who:  KREM Cares works with the non-profit Communities in Schools Spokane to serve the most in-need students throughout the region.   The agency is embedded in many area schools that help us connect directly with kids.  KREM Cares also works to supply local agencies like the MLK Center with supplies for their back-to-school efforts.

Where:  During the month of August KREM helps connect viewers with on-line giving options that directly impact our kids. You can also make a donation at area Office Depot locations and the Couer d’Alene Casino Resort.

When:  KREM Cares focuses on the month of August for donation giving so that we can get as much to the kids as necessary at the start of school.

Why:  Because kids matter and at KREM we believe all children should have access and equity in the tools needed for success.
