Woman suspected of arson in Sandpoint Army Surplus store fire arrested

Sandpoint Police arrested Jennifer S. Meyer for first-degree arson.

SANDPOINT, Idaho — The Sandpoint Police Department says they have arrested a woman suspected of arson in connection to a fire that broke out at the Army Surplus store on the 4th of July.

Police say they were able to identify 50-year-old Jennifer S. Meyer from Sandpoint as the suspect after reviewing multiple tips and video footage related to the investigation.

Police interviewed Meyer on Tuesday before taking her into custody for first-degree arson. Police say Meyer will have her first appearance on Wednesday, July 17.

Authorities are still asking for your help identifying the motive for the arson. Anyone with information or even spoke with Meyer on the 4th of July is asked to contact the Sandpoint Police Department at 208-265-1482.

Sandpoint police say this is an ongoing investigation.
