Celebrate 4th of July in Riverfront Park at the ICCU Summer Carnival

Expo '74 closing ceremonies will also be taking place leading up to the 4th of July fireworks show in downtown Spokane.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Fourth of July is just one day away, and the City of Spokane is inviting you to its celebration in downtown Spokane.

Fourth of July weekend coincides with the Expo '74 closing ceremonies, and the City of Spokane will have many activities for you and your family to take part in.

The festivities kicked off the day before Independence Day. From July 3-7, the ICCU Summer Carnival will take over Riverfront Park, where there will be rides, games, food and market vendors. 

The carnival is free to attend, but you will need to purchase ride tickets at the festival, whether it be single tickets or wristbands that get you unlimited rides.

Here are the hours for each day of the festival:

  • Wednesday, July 3: 4:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 4: Noon – 11:00 p.m.
  • Friday, July 5: 2:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 6: Noon – 11:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, July 7: 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Here is what you can expect for Independence Day events and Expo '74 closing ceremonies, according to the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation.

  • 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Fairchild Air Force Base Army Band will have three groups playing in rotation around the park
  • 6 p.m. Presentation of Colors by the Fairchild 92nd Air Refueling Wing Honor Guard, National Anthem
  • 6:10 p.m. Expo Pillar Reflection by Margo Hill, Expo Tribal Pillar Lead
  • 6:15 p.m. EWU Student Quartet, a 1974-inspired medley
  • 6:35 p.m. Spark Central Poetry, featuring works by students
  • 6:50 p.m. Warhorse Karate demonstration
  • 7:10 p.m. Holy Names Music Center, guitar instrumentals and vocal performances
  • 7:30 p.m. Stage Left, sneak peek of Pippin, which enjoyed its first world tour in 1974
  • 7:40 p.m. Expo Closing Ceremonies, reflecting on the past, present, and future
  • 8:30 p.m. MasterClass Big Band, multigenerational hits
  • 10 p.m. Fireworks
