SPOKANE, Wash. — If it seemed like Wednesday’s rainstorm brought more rain than usual, it's because it did. Wednesday’s .70 inches of rain in Spokane was the most precipitation the region has seen in one day all year!
Before Wednesday, the region saw .49 inches of precipitation on January 17. However, that is a little misleading. The nearly half-inch of precipitation equated to just over five inches of snow that fell across the region!
The Inland Northwest is not done with rain this week.
Another storm will move into the region late Saturday night into Sunday morning. The storm brings a chance for snow, yes, snow! However, most models still only have snow levels down to about 3,000'... which would not support snowfall at the valley level. Also, the jet stream nudges into a ridge shape which also promotes warmer temperatures which would fall under the rain category for us.
