Rain stays in the forecast with more snow expected in the mountains

Spokane officially recorded 1.2 inches of snow during Wednesday's storm.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The snow is all but done for the day. A few lingering showers above 3,000 feet won’t amount to much more than an inch all said and done. While the totals were a bit dismal here in eastern Washington and North Idaho, parts of north-central Washington and the Cascades picked up some staggering amounts of snow.

We are not done with the bomb cyclone just yet. Thursday brings a few scattered showers, but warm temperatures mean it’s all rain below about 4,500 feet. Even the mountains aren’t expected to pick up much on Thursday, a few inches all said and done will be it.

Friday brings a more widespread round of rain and snow as a wave of energy spins off the cyclone, taking aim at a Northwest landfall. We’re talking some serious rain in low elevations. Even Spokane could pick up more than a half an inch of rain by the time it comes to an end. Snow, it’s all in the mountains. Snow levels climb to almost 5,000 feet as temperatures soar almost 10 degrees above normal.

Right now the weekend looks to be more dry than wet, but with a storm sitting off the coast it’s safe to assume we will see scattered showers each day. Both days look to be morning events and not near what we see on Friday, but a chance of scattered showers nonetheless.

Thanksgiving travel? Well, there’s a decent chance we remain pretty dry and pretty cold all of next week.
