SPOKANE, Wash. — We have yet another round of snow in the forecast for the Inland Northwest. Snow will blanket the region starting Thursday night and leave behind a coat of fresh snow for the Friday morning commute. Once again, the snow will stretch from the Cascades through North Idaho falling in both the valleys and mountains.
The big difference with this next round of snow will be the snow totals. Instead of 6-12 inches, most locations will get just a couple of inches by the time it comes to an end.
Snow will start falling after the evening commute Thursday and continue through the morning commute Friday. The bulk of it will pile up overnight, so by the time you head out the door Friday you should have a good idea of what to expect for the day.
The big difference with this next round of snow is the wave of energy itself. Not as strong and not the same moisture, it won’t last as long or snow as hard. For that reason it won’t have near the impact of the storm we saw Wednesday.
On the heels of the widespread snow is the chance of a little freezing rain or sleet. Thankfully, a few things have changed since earlier in the week. Temperatures are trending a little cooler so most of what falls will be snow. The moisture also cuts off in the afternoon, so the chances of widespread precipitation are a lot lower.
A few light, scattered freezing rain and sleet cells are possible through Saturday. It doesn’t look like there will be enough to break tree branches or knock out power, but slick spots on roads and sidewalks will be possible.
