Spokane County completes Bigelow Gulch Project to improve safety and reduce congestion

The project was focused on widening and improving the roadway to make it safer.

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Spokane drivers, get ready for your commute to get just a little bit easier! On Tuesday a ribbon cutting will be held to commemorate the opening of the Bigelow Gulch Project.

County Commissioners will be on location for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Bigelow Gulch Road Urban Connector has been in the works for years and is finally finished. The project was focused on widening and improving the roadway to make it safer. That includes accommodating more traffic which should allow freight to move through the area more smoothly.

According to the county, the Urban Connector Alignment Project has also straightened and widened both the existing Bigelow Gulch Road and Forker Road to meet the objectives of improved safety, reduced congestion and support of state and regional freight mobility initiatives.
