WIAA: Fan at 1A, 2A Hardwood Classic tests positive for COVID-19

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) was notified on Tuesday that a spectator in attendance at the 1A/2A Hardwood Classic in Yakima on Saturday, March 7, has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the he Yakima Health District, the person was at the tournament only on March 7 from approximately 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The WIAA notified schools and tournament-related personnel. The Freeman girls' basketball team played in that tournament starting at 1 p.m. on that day.

The YHD recommends those that may have been in close contact with the individual to self-monitor for symptoms of coronavirus through March 21.

As of Thursday in the state of Washington, 1,376 people have tested positive for the virus and 74 of those people died. A total of 19,336 people have tested negative. This doesn't reflect a fifth case in Spokane County.
