SPOKANE, Wash — Gonzaga Women’s Basketball announced on Wednesday, that Head Coach Lisa Fortier has completed treatment in her fight against breast cancer.

Senior Yvonne Ejim tells Coach Fortier, “We just wanted to give you a little celebration for completing your radiation.” Through tears, she continued, “We are so proud of you. We know how hard you’ve worked not only for us but for yourself since you found out and I think it is very inspiring to see someone like you in our lives go through so much and show up every single day and give it your all, give it your best. You’ve done an amazing job. I’ve never once doubted you. I am very glad to have you as a coach and know that you completed this step in your life, so congrats.”

Coach Fortier announced she had been diagnosed with breast cancer that had spread to her lymph nodes back in February.

Fortier says she will return to coach the GU Women's Basketball team this season.

"We're really excited for our season to come, and we just wanted to share that bit with you. So, looking forward to seeing you guys out there. And thank you for all your continued support," Fortier said at the end of her message.
