Pedestrian killed in car crash near Fairchild Air Force Base in August identified

AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash — The woman that was hit and killed in a car crash near Fairchild Air Force Base in mid-August has been identified.

According to Washington State Patrol (WSP), 38-year-old Crystal Schwartz was walking eastbound on Highway 2 when she suddenly crossed into the westbound lanes.

WSP said Schwartz was hit in the right lane of westbound Highway 2 by a Toyota Highlander driven by an 18-year-old from Medical Lake. 

Both the driver and his passenger were uninjured in the crash.

WSP said the cause of the crash was a pedestrian violation. WSP also said it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
