SPOKANE, Wash. — Dané Hulings has been extradited from California to Spokane to face charges related to a murder case involving her son. The case centers on the death of Alvin Gallegos, with whom her 18-year-old son, Caleb Hulings, is accused of killing.
Dané Hulings made her first appearance in Spokane County Court on Monday.
According to police reports, Dané Hulings admitted to being present when her son allegedly killed Alvin Gallegos. The incident dates back to last spring, with investigators stating that Caleb Hulings murdered Gallegos in his South Hill apartment in April 2023.
Initially, Gallegos's death was classified as a suicide. However, further investigation led prosecutors to link the crime to Caleb Hulings, citing DNA evidence found at the crime scene. Dané Hulings' involvement came to light through various sources, including messages she sent to a friend and a police report she filed days after Gallegos's death.
An attorney representing Dané Hulings stated, "She's the one that called police a little less than a week after the event and reported her son had killed this man."
Dané Hulings is currently being held on a reduced bond of $250,000, down from the initial $1 million. She is scheduled to appear in court again on March 19, 2024.
