SPOKANE, Wash. — The mother of the teen arrested for the murder of 76-year-old Alvin Gallegos in Spokane in April 2023 has also been arrested for the same crime in the same case.
Forty-two-year-old Dané K. Hulings was arrested for second-degree murder in California in February 2024. Two Major Crimes detectives with the Spokane Police Department (SPD) traveled to California this week to transport Hulings back to Spokane.
The murder happened on April 26, 2023 when Spokane Police responded to an apartment on E. 29th Ave. before finding Gallegos dead from a stabbing.
Hulings' 18-year-old son, Caleb, was arrested for Gallegos's murder in January 2024. He remains in Spokane County Jail on $250,000 bond. Hulings's bond was set at $1 million Wednesday during her initial arraignment.
