A Spokane man has been charged with a DUI crash that killed two teens and left one hospitalized

The crash occurred Saturday night, and Jesse Roullier now faces multiple charges.

SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane man is now charged with a DUI crash that killed two teens and left one hospitalized Saturday night.

33-year-old Jesse Roullier now faces two counts of vehicular homicide- DUI, vehicular assault – DUI, and a separate DUI charge.

Washington State Patrol says he was drunk when he slammed head-on into a car filled with teens.

18-year-old Rogan Murrell and 17-year-old Jayneat Morgan died after Saturday’s crash on State Highway 27 three miles north of Rockford.

Another teen was critically hurt.

Court documents show a WSP trooper noted Roullier smelled of alcohol, had watery droopy eyes, and was slurring his words at the scene. Roullier told the trooper he was driving home from the Coeur d’Alene casino and claimed the other car crossed the center line and hit him. Investigators determined Roullier’s Jeep was the one that swerved into the oncoming lane.

Court documents show Roullier failed two field sobriety tests; at the hospital, he admitted to drinking at the casino around an hour before the crash, telling the trooper he had a couple of vodka shots.

Monday a Spokane County courtroom was packed with family and friends who became emotional when the prosecutor talked about the victims.

“As a result of this alleged conduct, two very young individuals lost their lives and one was life-flighted to a hospital with severe injuries, to include head trauma that presented with significant possibility of death,” the prosecutor said.

Spokane Public Schools confirmed Monday all three young victims were students at Lewis and Clark High School. A Spokesman's graduation announcement shows Murrell just graduated in June.

Outside the courtroom, family and friends gathered to cry, embrace, and pray. They declined to talk to KREM 2 on camera, but said all three victims are ‘good kids.’

Roullier is being held on $2 million bond.
