Two teens killed near Rockford in DUI-related crash

A three-car crash reportedly caused by a driver under the influence has resulted in two dead and one critically injured.

ROCKFORD, Wash. — Two teens died north of Rockford in a three-car crash, reportedly caused by a driver under the influence.

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) reports that the incident occurred on State Route 27 at milepost 71. WSP says that a northbound car driven by a 33-year-old man under the influence crossed into the southbound lanes.

A car traveling southbound was driven by a teen and had two other teenage passengers.

WSP reports that the intoxicated driver crashed into the teens’ car, causing both cars to be pushed off the side of the road.

WSP says that debris from the initial crash also struck a third vehicle, driven by a 51-year-old and resulting in a flat tire. Fortunately, the driver of the third vehicle was uninjured.

WSP confirmed in a press release that two of the teens, identified as Rogan Murrell, 18, and Jayneat Morgan, 17, died at the scene. The third teen was airlifted to Sacred Heart. The condition of the third teen is unknown at this time.

The driver under the influence was identified by WSP as 33-year-old Jesse Roullier and has been charged with vehicular assault and vehicular homicide.

The Washington State Department of Transportation confirmed that the roads were reopened around 3 a.m.
