NEWPORT, Wash. — Steven’s County Sheriff’s announced the capture of fugitive David Cato early Thursday morning.
In a Facebook post, Stevens County Sheriff’s said “Cato surrendered without incident from a residence despite having made statements to witness that he would not go peacefully.”
On March 9 it was reported that Cato was spotted in Newport.
Sheriff’s say Cato is charged with first degree assault with a deadly weapon, first degree burglary with a deadly weapon, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle, third degree assault on a law enforcement officer, residential burglary, second degree burglary, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
The charges stem from multiple incidents in Stevens and Spokane Counties.
In the post the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office said they "would like to thank all our law enforcement partners and especially our citizens for all the help in bringing a peaceful resolution to a volatile situation."
