Stevens County Sheriff's Office: "Armed and dangerous" fugitive spotted in Newport

SPOKANE, Wash. — A man who is being described as "armed and dangerous" by law enforcement was recently spotted in Newport, according to the Stevens County Sheriff's Office. 

The U.S. Marshals Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force (PNVOTF), Spokane County Sheriff's Office and Steven's County Sheriff's Office said the fugitive, David Cato, is dangerous. 

Cato is wanted on three felony warrants. He faces charges for reported assault, burglary, stealing a car and escaping law enforcement. 

Law enforcement officers are offering up to $5,000 for any information that could lead to his arrest.

Stevens County deputies ask anyone to call 911 if they see Cato. Anyone with information on Cato should also call the U.S. Marshals Service at 1 (800) 336-0102, or email USMS tips here
