SPOKANE, Wash. — It's a windy and warm Tuesday for the Inland Northwest as a wind storm-esque storm system passes through the area today. Geographically, the low pressure area and cold front are in the exact locations necessary for a wind storm, but since it's out-of-season, the overall intensity is more mild as opposed to severe.
Wind Advisories were issued for a portion of the Inland Northwest and include Spokane, Coeur d'Alene, and all of Central Washington from 2 pm to 8 pm. Wind gusts at 45mph can cause minor impacts on the region which include heightened fire danger and the possibility of blowing dust and tree branches snapping.
Weather Hazard: Strong winds up to 45mph.
When: From 2 pm to 8 pm.
Impact: Minor tree damage, a chance for power outages, blowing dust, and elevated fire danger.
Need to know: It's best to secure all loose items outside to prevent them from blowing away. Fires, including campfires and bonfires, should be avoided. And those driving high-profile vehicles on North-South highway will experience strong cross winds.
