Tree kills woman during S. Spokane wind storm

Spokane Fire officials said a middle aged woman was hit in the head by a tree near W 14th and Ash.
Spokane Police said this large tree fell on a woman, killing her Tuesday afternoon.

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane County Medical Examiner identified the woman killed Tuesday night during the windstorm. Lea Anne Scott, 54, was killed outside a home along W. 14 in South Spokane.

The Medical Examiner said Scott suffered injuries to her ribs, pelvis and spinal column.

Spokane Fire officials said Scott was hit in the head by a tree. Fire officials said they received a call just before 3:30 p.m. that a tree had knocked down power lines in the area. Officials said the call was updated indicating the tree was on top of a unresponsive woman. Fire crews responded and were unable to resuscitate the victim.
