SPOKANE, Wash. — It's been no surprise that November has been wet for the Inland Northwest. Before we close the month officially, with a mostly dry forecast I thought I would look at where this November stands in terms of the record books.

For Spokane, 4.24" of precipitation (rain and melted-snow equivalent) has fallen from November 1st to 26th. This sits just outside the top 10 for all-time wettest Novembers at number 11. With a mostly dry forecast for the final 4 days, this is likely where we will land, but even one more one-hundredth of an inch of rain will officially put us in a tie for 10th place.

Of that, 2.6 inches of snow has fallen this month. A bit deceiving, however, as the first 1.2 inches on November 16th melted by the following morning, and the 1.4 inches on November 20th only accumulated at the recording site at Spokane International Airport, where downtown Spokane only saw rain on that day. The snow-water equivalent, aka if you melted the snow into liquid water added up to 0.52" of water, which is what goes into the precipitation total for the month.

NWS Spokane put this wet November on our radar earlier in the month after our wettest day of the year on November 22nd when 0.90" of rain fell in a single day in Spokane. In the week since, Spokane jumped up to 11th on the all-time wettest November chart. Omak has climbed to 2nd place with 3.91" precipitation. And Wenatchee is up to 4th wettest all time at 2.27" of precipitation.

Spokane's weather record dates back to 1881.
