Several Spokane events canceled amid record-breaking heat

Temperatures in Spokane are set to skyrocket into the triple digits on Tuesday and Wednesday.
From 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Summit Parkway will be filled with farm stands, artisan food makers, crafters and food trucks.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Amid record-breaking heat, organizers have already canceled several events across Spokane this week.

Organizers canceled both the Hillyard Farmer's Market scheduled for Tuesday and the Kendall Yards Night Market set for Wednesday, according to announcements made on each market's Facebook page.

Both markets announced they plan to be back as normal next week.

These events are not the first to be scrapped because of the extreme heat. The City of Spokane canceled both Riverfront Eats, as well as the Riverfront Moves yoga class scheduled for Tuesday.

The cancelations come as much of the Inland Northwest remains under an Excessive Heat Warning which is set to continue through Wednesday evening.

Temperatures in Spokane have skyrocketed past 100 degrees Tuesday. Spokane broke a record high on Monday, with a high of 100 degrees at the airport. The previous record was 99 degrees in 1970.

The heat will likely break records again on Tuesday and Wednesday. The forecast for Tuesday is 102 degrees (Record: 100 degrees) and Wednesday is 104 degrees (Record: 102 degrees).
