SPOKANE, Wash. — Expect scattered snow showers throughout the weekend, according to KREM Morning Weather Anchor Evan Noorani. Weather will be drier early next week, but temperatures will remain cold, with highs in the 20s and lows potentially in the single digits overnight.
A few school districts in Eastern Washington and North Idaho canceled or delayed classes on Friday. Many districts lost at least one day of school this week amid back-to-back snowstorms.
Spokane city officials said the full city plow was completed Friday at 9 a.m. The plow took longer than the usual three days, city officials said. They said it was because of the continued waves of snow that fell during the work.
City officials said the pattern of the snow means that some areas that were plowed early in the plow effort need some additional attention. Crews will do additional snow plowing and cleanup at needed residential locations around the city Friday night and over the weekend. Crews will deice, sand and plow in the arterials as needed, as well.
Downtown parking restrictions are still in place. City plow crews will work in downtown Friday night and overnight.
Inland NW snowstorms started Friday
Snow started falling in Spokane last Friday, Feb. 8 at 5 a.m. and the city saw several inches on Friday, with light snow falling throughout the city on Saturday.
The city then saw 5 inches of snow from Sunday night into Monday morning.
Then on Tuesday, Spokane residents woke up to six more inches of new snow.
