High Wind Watch issued for Spokane on Saturday

Wind gusts will be as high as 60 mph on Saturday for Spokane and the Palouse.

SPOKANE, Wash. — NWS Spokane has issued a High Wind Watch for Saturday.

Locations in the watch area include Spokane, Pullman, Davenport, Asotin, and Moscow. Winds will gust up to 60mph out of the southwest in some cases.

Winds that strong mean that isolated power outages and tree damage is possible. Additionally, any loose objects in your yard may be blown away.

Wind gusts could reach 35 mph by Friday afternoon in Spokane and are expected to increase to 40-60 mph by Saturday morning.

On Saturday evening, gusts are expected to reach 30-50 mph.

The southwest nature of these winds do promote warm temperatures for the region. Many locations will see high temperatures in the mid-50s, even if there are area showers and widespread cloud cover.

The warmth does mean that more snow will continue to melt, even at higher elevations, and a few rivers and streams may see a brief, but sharp increase in water levels.
