SPOKANE, Wash. — Although September 1st marks the beginning of meteorological fall, the summer heat has been the only thing going on this month so far. The region will see another round of 90-degree heat and potential record highs are likely to stay through this weekend!

The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued Heat Advisories for all of the Inland Northwest for Thursday, September 5th, through Saturday, September 7th. High temperatures will range between 92° and 102° over the next three days. For Spokane specifically, mid-90s are forecasted which is right at record highs for this time of year.

The forecast and possible record highs are as follows...

  • Thursday, Sep. 5 - Forecast 94°, Record 96°
  • Friday, Sep. 6 - Forecast 96°, Record 94°
  • Saturday, Sep. 7 - Forecast 97°, Record 95°
  • Sunday, Sep. 8 - Forecast 95°, Record 93°

It's worth noting that Sunday's temperatures are also expected to be in the mid-90s with record highs. The KREM 2 Weather Team is calling for Weather Impact Alert Days through Sunday.

Sunday in particular could see a few extra clouds and even some mountain pop-up showers as a very weak disturbance passes through the Northwest. However, the indications are that this was not nearly enough to burst the bubble on this heat wave, and thus the forecast is what it is, at record high levels.

Mind you, the major outdoor event happening this weekend is the Spokane County Interstate Fair. Those planning on being at the fair should drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, otherwise, it will be more than an uncomfortable experience. And we don't want that!

When: Thursday through Sunday, September 5-8

Impact: High temperatures in the mid-90s.

Need to Know: Stay hydrated and take breaks from the outdoors during the extreme heat.
