SPOKANE, Wash. — The forecast for Halloween this Thursday continues to highlight rainfall for the Inland Northwest. But just because the chance for rain is high, that doesn't mean the rain will be heavy. And that's the case for this year's holiday.
A cold front is set to pass by the area Thursday morning, meaning another batch of rain is absolutely likely, pushing 90%-plus likelihood. But this front is weaker than the previous ones we've seen recently, so the rain will be much lighter and hopefully, there won't be nearly as much wind either.
The tricky (no pun intended) part of the forecast is for the Trick-or-Treat hours: Thursday evening. The bulk of the rain from the front will be long gone. But an overall unsettled pattern is set to stick around for several hours and several days afterward. Basically, "scattered showers" are in the forecast through nearly next week, and as such, the chances for rain Thursday night rain at about 50-60%. However, most models didn't plot much precipitation during this time so I have interpreted this information as the following:
A light rain, sprinkle, drizzle, or mist is likely. But it's probably that classic PNW rain that won't require an umbrella for Halloween time. I bet the grass will stay very wet, hopefully, kids won't be slipping as they dash to the front doors for candy. That's probably where you'll get most wet, to be honest.
In terms of temperatures, high temps Thursday will be around 47° - which is close to the average (49°). Evening temperatures will quickly slip into the low 40s before 8 p.m. Not the coldest, but not exactly shorts-weather... it never is around here.
Happy Trick-or-Treating!
