SPOKANE, Wash. – Many in and around Spokane woke up Saturday to fresh snow, and for those at Manito Park, it looked like what you would imagine a winter wonderland to be.
Branden and Corina Tripon were just some of the many who took advantage of the snow. They decided to go sledding at Manito Park.
“Yeah I’m burning off Thanksgiving,” Branden Tripon said. "I'll take the snow all day we love it."
Jason Grieb and his friend Max were also testing out the fresh powder. They attempted to snowboard down a hill but, there was not enough snow. The lack of snow led to a few wipeouts, but they still enjoyed the snowy afternoon outside.
"It looks great out here, you know sledding and stuff. It's a good time,” Grieb said.
Heather and Johann Schmitz took in the beauty of crisp white blankets of snow as they walked to the conservatory.
"We love the snow, we love the winter climate, that's why we moved here,” Johann Schmitz said, “and look at it, it doesn't get much more beautiful than this.”
It was a time for family and friends, but for the men from Victory Outreach Spokane it was a time for fellowship. Isaac Belmontes and Ike Whitaker were shoveling people’s driveways and walkways to collect donations for this cause.
"Just come out here and touch the community. Be able to minister the word of God and be able to work and get some fresh air and a peace of mind,” Belmontes said.
"We don't ask for a set price, sometimes we don't get any money, and we are still grateful to come out here and touch the community and try to share the gospel with them,” Whitaker said.
Whether it was shoveling snow with a purpose, catching a ride, or just being in awe of the white scenery, all of the above seem to be the perfect way to enjoy this winter wonderland.
