SPOKANE, Wash. — The rain is here. It started raining around 7am in Spokane and looks like it'll rain for the rest of the day. The feed of moisture is coming in from the southwest as the Jet Stream is giving us a bit of an Atmospheric River flavor of storm.

It's likely some places pick up the better part of an inch of rain on Wednesday with about ½" forecast around Spokane. Modeling has the rain lasting all morning and afternoon for the heart of the Inland Northwest, letting up for some in Central Washington at first. Scattered showers continue tonight and into part of the day Thursday before this storm finally runs out of steam.

Meanwhile, in the mountains there will be a lot of snow. Snow levels are above 4,000 feet. Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for the Highway-20 mountain passes, including Sherman Pass and Washington Pass where between 8 and 22 inches of snow is forecast to fall.

The next storm will press into the region Sunday (-ish) will likely bring more widespread rain. The big question is, is it going to snow? The answer is: maybe. It could be either Sunday morning or Monday morning when temperatures are cold enough at night, that's when there could be a chance for low elevation snow. Snow levels could drop down to 2,500', should the precipitation and cold weather line up right... but it's still a big if.
