Spokane drivers face delays as major paving projects begin Monday

City crews will begin paving 29th between Ray and Ivory Streets. To facilitate this work, Regal from 29th to 34th will also be closed.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Drivers on Spokane’s South Hill should prepare for delays on Monday as multiple roads will be closed.

To begin, city crews will begin paving 29th between Ray and Ivory Streets. The roadway will be reduced to one lane in each direction from Ray Street to Grand Blvd. for this construction. To facilitate this work, Regal from 29th to 34th will also be closed.

The city offered several detours to help get around the closures.

The first option encourages drivers to use Rockwood Blvd., Southeast Blvd., 37th, and 57th going east and west when possible. The second alternative going north and south is to use Southeast Blvd, Grand Blvd., and Ray Street.

The road work is part of two separate projects by the City of Spokane. Some project highlights include new storm sewers, drainage structures, sidewalk and ADA-compliant ramps, curbing, pavement, pavement markings, traffic signals and sundry utility adjustments.

These will not be the only road closures due to construction in Spokane this week. On Tuesday, drivers should prepare for closures on the Cheney-Spokane Road. The work will begin just south of the retail area at US-195 and will continue through Cedar Road. The project is focusing on supporting water capacity improvements in the area.
