Spokane County Treasurer announces $15 Million loan to expedite terminal expansion project at GEG

Spokane County Treasurer Michael Baumgartner and airport board members announced the commencement of the second phase of a financing agreement for the project.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Work on the Concourse C Terminal Renovation and Expansion project at the Spokane Airport (GEG) is moving forward.

On Tuesday, Spokane County Treasurer Michael Baumgartner, Airport Board Chair Ezra Eckhardt and Airport CEO Larry Krauter announced the commencement of the second phase of a financing agreement for the project.

Baumgartner said a second loan of $15 million for the project follows the previous $15 million loan for a total amount of $30 million in financing from the County Treasurer to the Airport.

The $150 million, 144,000 square foot "TREX" expansion project will include additional ticket counter positions while modernizing Concourse C infrastructure and adding new gates.

“The future of Spokane’s economic vitality is directly linked to the ability of Spokane International Airport to serve our growing community,” Baumgartner said.  “We remain committed to our partnership with the Airport to see their expansion through to a successful completion on an expedited timeline and with a lower cost to the traveling public.”.
