Spokane Airport gearing up for busiest travel season since 2017

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving and November 26 are expected to be the busiest travel days with nearly 130 flights scheduled to arrive and depart from Spokane.

SPOKANE, Wash. — As we move closer and closer to holiday season, airport crowds are expected to get larger by the day.

The Spokane International Airport is expected to see its most travelers come in and out of the airport since 2017. An airport spokesperson says that is a 7.5% increase in travelers compared to last year.

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving and Sunday, November 26 are expected to be the busiest travel days with nearly 130 flights scheduled to arrive and depart from the Spokane International Airport each day.

The airport says passenger traffic will likely peak between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. leading up to and immediately following Thanksgiving.

With that in mind, there are a few travel tips you can follow to make your trip as painless as possible.

  • Arrive at the airport two hours early. That gives you enough time to check bags and get through security
  • If you are arriving, encourage those picking you up to wait in the cell phone lot until you are ready to be picked up
  • Make sure you empty out large bottles of liquid
  • Have large electronics out and put them into bins as you go through security
