SPOKANE, Wash. — Southwest Airlines launched its first nonstop flight from Spokane to San Diego on Sunday.
The launch comes as the airline celebrates its 25-year anniversary.
San Diego is one of the top ten origination and destination markets from Spokane, with an average of more than 150 flying between the cities every day, according to spokesperson with Spokane International Airport.
San Diego is Southwest Airlines’ eighth nonstop destination from Spokane, joining Boise, Las Vegas, Oakland, Phoenix, Sacramento and San Jose.
The once-daily flight is served with a 143-seat Boeing 737-700 jet.
In October, Alaska Airlines launched its first nonstop flight between Spokane and San Diego.
The flight between Spokane and San Diego is part of Alaska's Wine Flies Free program, which allows Mileage Plan members to check an entire case of wine of up to 12 bottles with no baggage fee.
