WSP trooper extricated from patrol car after crash on I-90 in Spokane Valley

The trooper's car was hit during a traffic stop on the left shoulder of the highway.

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A Washington State trooper had to be extricated from his patrol vehicle following a three-car crash on I-90 in Spokane Valley Friday.

The crash happened around 10 a.m. on I-90 near the Sullivan exit.

Washington State Trooper Jeff Sevigney said the trooper's car was hit during a traffic stop on the left shoulder of the highway.

Sevigney said the trooper had to be extracted from his vehicle. The trooper was sent to the hospital for their injuries. He said the injuries were not life-threatening.

Sevigney said the driver who cause the crash is under investigation for vehicular assault. 

He said the crash was not snow related. Only one lane is open in the area causing long delays in the area.
