WSDOT hosting community conversation on North Spokane Corridor project

Community members of the East Central neighborhood are invited to provide feedback to WSDOT about the construction project on Wednesday night.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) invites residents in the East Central neighborhood to a community discussion of the North Spokane Corridor project.

The community conversation will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center.

This is the second community conversation and it will revolve around the North Spokane Corridor (NSC) project that seeks to connect North Spokane with I-90.

The I-90 connection would be the final phase of the NSC project and will be broken into four phases of construction that are likely to start in late 2025 or early spring of 2026.

WSDOT expects the corridor project to be completed by 2030. Currently, they have constructed 7 miles of the corridor and have about 3.5 miles left to build.

WSDOT says the purpose of the community conversations is to receive feedback and “foster meaningful dialogue and strengthen relationships” with the community.

At the conversation, WSDOT plans to discuss architectural themes for the connection project as well as brief updates on stormwater, utility plans and tree replacement for the corridor.

There will also be the option for community members to join the conversation remotely.

WSDOT says they plan to host community meetings every third Wednesday of each month through 2025.
