US-2 repaving to cause lane closures in Pend Oreille County on August 26

Lane closures in both directions west of Newport will begin Monday, August 26 for repaving work.

PEND OREILLE COUNTY, Wash. — Both directions of U.S. Route 2 will have single-lane closures beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, August 26.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) says the closures will be roughly 12 miles west of Newport from the Spokane Pend Oreille County line to State Route 211 between milepost 315 and 322.

WSDOT says crews will be working to repave the roadway between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

During the construction, WSDOT says pilot cars and flaggers may be used at times for specific work and the speed limit may be reduced to 45 miles per hour in certain stretches of road.

WSDOT says travelers should expect minor delays. The project is expected to last through September.
