Southbound 395 reopen after fatal hit-and-run prompts hours long closure

Washington State Patrol say they are seeking witnesses to the vehicle versus pedestrian fatal collision.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Washington State officials have announced that southbound 395 from I-90 to Lind has been reopened after it was closed for several hours due to a hit-and-run.

According to Washington State Patrol, the roadway was closed to investigate a fatal hit and run collision that occurred around 3:30 a.m. near mile post 81 on southbound 395. The pedestrian was identified as 31-year-old Nicholas Cooper. He was found in the roadway by law enforcement driving in the area. 

A detour was set up during the closure. Motorists were urged to use SR21 south to SR26 east then back to US 395.
