More construction projects begin across Spokane creating frustration for drivers

That project is expected to close three separate intersections on Washington Street. The intersections include Maxwell/Mission Ave., Boone Ave. and North River Drive

SPOKANE, Wash. — On Wednesday, drivers will face detours on Washington Street between Maxwell and North River Drive near downtown. The city says they are working on a grind and overlay project.

That project is expected to close three separate intersections on Washington Street. The intersections include Maxwell/Mission Ave., Boone Ave. and North River Drive.

Drivers will need to travel east and west on Indiana Ave. and Spokane Falls Blvd. when intersecting with Washington Street.

The city says drivers who are not accessing the area for specific reasons are urged to use alternate arterial routes such as Division or Monroe St.

These closures are expected to last September 11.

Looking ahead to September 12, Francis Ave. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Belt Street and Elm Street near 5-Mile shopping center. The center turn lane on Francis Ave. will also be closed between Belt St. and Elm St. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate east and west arterial routes if possible.

These lane reductions and closures are set to take place so crews can repair a sewer station.
