SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Thousands of residents around the Inland Northwest are without power on Friday as a snowstorm slams the area.
Nearly 7,000 Avista customers are without power as of 10:15 a.m. on Friday, along with more than 650 Inland Power customers.
There are handful of Avista outages impacting Spokane residents, but customers in areas of northern Washington near Chewelah, Colville and Kettle Falls are seeing the greatest impacts. Most of the Inland Power outages are in Spokane County.
KREM 2 viewer Nancy Cross reported more than nine inches of snow near Chewelah on Friday morning and Sarah Spurgeon said 10 inches of snow had fallen at her home in the Loon Lake area as of 7:30 a.m.
Interstate 90 at the Highway 2 interchange was blocked on Friday morning due to a downed power line across the road, but it reopened just before 9:30 a.m.
The Washington State Department of Transportation asked drivers to use caution and drive for conditions.
