Construction workers tried to save motorcyclist who died in east Spokane crash

Police said witnesses reported the motorcycle was seen traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on Ferry just prior to the crash.

SPOKANE, Wash. — A man in his mid-30s died in a motorcycle crash Tuesday afternoon.

Spokane police said just before 3 p.m., they received a report of a single motorcycle crash just east of Ferry and Altamont. Witnesses said the motorcycle was on fire and citizens on scene started CPR on the rider.

Police said the fire was put out by people on scene. They said despite efforts of construction workers and medics, the man died at the scene.

Police said witnesses reported the motorcycle was seen traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on Ferry just prior to the crash. Major Crimes Collision Investigators responded to the scene to process evidence.
