SPOKANE, Wash — Spokane County Sheriff's Office is investigating a serious crash between a semi and car that happened Wednesday morning. Three adults in the car were taken to the hospital with potentially life threatening injuries. One of the adults did die from injuries sustained. Two adults in the semi were also taken to the hospital.
Initial information indicates the semi-truck, occupied by two adults, was traveling west on Bigelow Gulch when it crossed over the centerline and collided with an Acura occupied by three adults.
Speed and conditions are believed to be factors at this early stage of the investigation.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 52-year-old Livan D. Baez-Gomez. His cause of death was ruled as blunt force injuries of the head, torso, and extremities. The manner of his death was ruled an accident.
Bigelow Gulch at Weile was closed for hours in both directions while the investigation was underway.
