SPOKANE, Wash. — The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will close I-90 on Division and Freya for one more weekend while the removal of the Magnolia Street bridge continues.
According to WSDOT, the road closures will begin from 6 p.m. on Saturday through 9 a.m. on Sunday. During Super Bowl weekend, crews worked to take down the bridge overnight, successfully taking a large piece of the bridge out from over the highway. WSDOT crews will focus on demolition for the rest of the bridge, which could lead to a longer closure of the highway.
"We will be close, there'll be some cleanup left, that'll be happening likely next week," said Ryan Overton, the WSDOT communications manager. "It'll also depend on how quickly the structure does come apart. If it does take a little bit longer. We could be looking at, you know, additional delays or closures in the coming weeks."
In early February, WSDOT found the walkway unsafe for pedestrian use and began work to remove the crossing a few weeks later. They closed several streets.
Westbound I-90 on-ramp closures:
- Freya Street
- Altamont Street
Eastbound I-90 on-ramp closures:
- Maple/Walnut streets

Detour information:
Drivers heading westbound will be routed off I-90 at the Freya/Thor Street interchange. Drivers on Eastbound I-90 will exit South Division Street and follow a signed detour on Sprague Avenue.
Spokane road closures:
Some Spokane roads will close during the removal of the bridge span including East 2nd Avenue, between South Napa and South Pittsburg streets, and East 3rd Avenue, between South Pittsburg and South Altamont streets.
