SPOKANE, Wash. — The average gas price in Spokane jumped more than 16 cents in the last week and is approaching nearly five dollars per gallon, according to the most recent survey from GasBuddy.
In Spokane, the average price for a gallon of gas is currently $4.90, which is 16.2 cents higher than this time last week. In Washington state, the average gas price is $5.09, which is 11.4 cents higher than this time last week.
Current gas prices in Spokane are 14.2 cents higher than a month ago and 15.9 cents higher than a year ago. The lowest price in Spokane is $4.69, while the most expensive is $5.29.
Statewide, Yakima saw one of the most dramatic price increases in the state, jumping 35.1 cents per gallon in one week.
The new survey comes as gas analysis experts predict consumers could see a significant rise in prices across the Pacific Northwest in the coming weeks. However, Patrick De Haan with GasBuddy predicts the entire country could see lower gas prices in the coming weeks.
"You could say Christmas is coming early: California should quickly see prices fall back below $6, and once all refinery snags are addressed and maintenance complete, I would not be surprised to see prices even fall below $5 there later this year," De Haan said. "Areas of Arizona, Las Vegas and Reno could fall back below $4 by the end of the year as well. While the trend is likely to be a strong one to the downside, small issues here and there could temporarily delay the onset of lower prices, but for now, motorists need not be in any rush: lower gas prices are on the way for every U.S. state in the weeks ahead."
