Two arrested after hit-and-run crash leaves one person dead on SR-2

The crash happened just before 3 a.m. Authorities had lanes closed for nearly five hours for the investigation.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Two people were arrested for separately running over a woman on SR-2 Wednesday morning before driving away from the scene.

According to police, the second driver is responsible for her death.

Police arrested and charged 28-year-old Marisa Jolley with vehicular homicide after she allegedly struck a woman on the highway before driving away from the scene. According to court documents, Jolley displayed signs of intoxication while meeting with officers after the crash.

According to police, a woman was walking in the road when she was hit by two different cars shortly after 2:30 a.m. Police say both cars left the scene but officers were able to find and arrest both drivers.

A man was charged with felony hit-and-run and a woman, later identified as Jolley, was charged with vehicular homicide.

According to court documents, Jolley was driving eastbound on SR-2 in her Toyota Corolla when she struck the pedestrian. Police said Jolley drove away from the crash, but later called 911 and met with officers near the intersection of Highway 2 and Russell Road.

Police later found Jolley’s license was suspended, according to documents.

Responding officers said Jolley was displaying signs of possible intoxication, including dilated pupils, watery and bloodshot eyes, poor balance, slurred speech and an odor of alcohol. Court documents state Jolley admitted to using marijuana and alcohol in the evening prior to the crash.

Jolley agreed to a field sobriety test but ultimately failed it. She also agreed to a breathalyzer test, which measured her blood alcohol content (BAC) at 0.022, according to documents.

Jolley was ultimately arrested and charged with vehicular homicide and third-degree driving with a suspended license. Her bond was set at $50,000. She is set to appear in court on March 26 at 9 a.m. for her arraignment.

The identity of the woman killed will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner at a later time.
