SPOKANE, Wash. — Washington State Patrol has arrested a man they say caused a crash on westbound I-90 in downtown Spokane and then left the scene.
The driver is expected to face charges including DUI and felony hit and run.
Troopers say the driver of the Ford Explorer was driving westbound on I-90 around 4:30 on Tuesday afternoon when he swerved left and hit another vehicle near Division Street. The Explorer then crossed three lanes and hit a barrier before it was hit by another vehicle trying to avoid the scene.
The driver of the Explorer drove away from the crash scene but was later arrested by troopers on westbound Highway 2 at Hayford Road in Airway Heights.
One driver was hurt in the crash and taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center. Their injuries are not known at this time.
The crash caused a backup that stretched for five miles during the evening commute.
