SPOKANE, Wash. — The Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) says a crash on I-90 that was blocking westbound lanes near the Thor & Freya exit for hours Thursday has been cleared.
Washington State Police (WSP) said that the crash involved two vehicles and a semi-truck.
According to WSP, the three vehicles were heading west on I-90 at Freya when a truck hit a car in the right rear while trying to change lanes, causing the car to lose control and spin. WSP said the car hit the guardrail and reentered the road where it was hit by a semi-truck.
WSP said neither alcohol nor drugs were involved in the crash. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
According to the Spokane Fire Department (SFD), they and the Spokane Valley Fire Department were dispatched to respond to the crash on I-90 at Altamont.
SFD said they had to remove one person from a vehicle as a result of the crash. Patient care started when an off-duty firefighter with the Spokane Valley Fire Department was on the scene and helped the person get out of the car.
The person who had to be removed from their car was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition, according to the SFD.
