City of Spokane says section of Cheney-Spokane Road reopening on Thursday, September 26

The City of Spokane said the remaining section of South Cheney Spokane Road between Qualchan Drive and South Cedar Road will reopen in mid-to-late October.

SPOKANE, Wash. — A part of Cheney-Spokane Road will reopen to commuters Thursday morning, September 26.

According to the City of Spokane, the Marshall Road Transmission Water Line Project is progressing, which is allowing the City to reopen Cheney-Spokane Road between Qualchan Drive and the retail area in the south 4300 block Thursday morning.

The City of Spokane said the remaining section of South Cheney Spokane Road between Qualchan Drive and South Cedar Road will reopen in mid-to-late October.

The City of Spokane said people living in the West Qualchan Drive and Eagle Ridge neighborhoods are asked to use the reopened route to reduce congestion at the South Meadow Lane Road and Highway 195 intersection during peak traffic times.

Here is what the City of Spokane said you can expect:

  • Cheney-Spokane Road will be open just south of the retail area to Qualchan Drive
  • Cheney-Spokane Road remains closed between Qualchan Drive and South Cedar Road
  • Speed reductions remain in place on US 195 between Hatch Rd. and Qualchan Dr.
  • Friday, Sept. 27 will be the final day of traffic control with flaggers at the US 195 and Meadow Lane Road intersection.
  • Businesses are open and accessible from the Cheney-Spokane Road interchange.
