METALINE FALLS, Wash. — Crews repaired a water main break in Metaline Falls on Thursday night.
According to the Pend Oreille PUD, crews responded to a broken water line near the Sullivan Creek bridge in Metaline Falls. Highway 31 was also closed in the area but has since reopened.
Pend Oreille PUD said the water system has been returned to normal operation after being shut off temporarily. They also say that crews are continuing to monitor the filters and pumps.
Fire District 2 had set up a water station at Tiger Station at the junction of Highway 20 and Highway 31 for residents in the area.
Pend Oreille PUD says residents in Metaline Falls should boil their water and let it cool for one minute after it comes to a rolling boil.
Pend Oreille PUD is also asking people to use boiled or bottled water until further notice.
The cause of the water main break is under investigation.
