State Route 290 and Hamilton Street access to I-90 will be closed due to bridge work

SPOKANE, Wash. — The James E. Keefe bridge will be closed for repairs in the evenings beginning on Sunday, July 28. 

The Washington State Department of Transportation says travelers who use the interchange at State Route 290 and Hamilton Street to get to and from Interstate 90 should plan extra time to account for travel delays. 

The dates and times for closures are as follows: 

Southbound SR 290 and Hamilton Street to I-90

  • Sunday, July 28, from 7 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Monday, July 29.

  • Monday, July 29, from 7 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30.

Westbound and eastbound I-90 Exit 282 to SR 290 and Hamilton Street

  • Tuesday, July 30, from 7 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31.

  • Wednesday, July 31 from 7:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 1.

In addition to the nightly closure of Exit 282, the 2nd Avenue on-ramp to SR 290 and Hamilton Street will also be closed.

WSDOT says during the southbound closure, drivers will be directed west onto Spokane Falls Boulevard to access I-90. 

Drivers can also travel east on State Route 290 and Trent Avenue to the Altamont or Freya and Thor interchanges with I-90.

During the northbound closure, no signed detour will be available. Alternate routes include Altamont Street or Freya Street to the east of I-90 and Division Street to the west of I-90.
