COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Summer, with increased traffic and soaring temperatures, might not seem the opportune time for the city of Coeur d'Alene to begin several street projects that may annoy drivers.

But it is.

"This is the time of year we do it," said Todd Feusier, Streets and Engineering director, Tuesday. "It can't be done in the winter. We need dry, warm temperatures."

Street work costing several million dollars is going on throughout the city. Drivers should expect delays, reduced speed, detours and reduced parking.

Here's a quick look:

• Fourth Street and Boise Avenue: Intersection reconstruction, July 8-22. This area is closed during construction.
